FAQ

How should I care for my watch?

Steel bracelets should be cleaned carefully in lukewarm water. However if extensive cleaning is needed remove bracelet from watch case and steam clean. Use a soft brush with soap and water to brush away the dirt. Finally, rinse with water and dry carefully with a soft cloth. Regarding the case cleaning please clean with moist cloth. Extensive cleaning please take to watch technician.

Leather straps can expand during the warm weather season and may absorb perspiration. A tight strap can also cause a perspiration rash on the wrist. If the strap ever becomes wet with perspiration, wipe it dry with a soft cloth.

Temperature Extremes: Quartz watches are much less affected by extremes of temperature than mechanical watches, and are designed to keep good time if worn on the wrist for eight hours a day with ambient temperatures between -10 ° C / 14 ° F and 35 ° C / 95 ° F. If removed completely from the wrist, your watch may lose time during the winter, but will return to normal accuracy as soon as you start wearing it again. If your watch is stored at temperatures outside the normal range (as low as -10 ° C / 14 ° F or as high as 60 ° C / 140 ° F) the electronic components may cease to function normally.

Battery life can be significantly reduced at high temperatures (above 40 ° C / 104 ° F), and battery fluid may even leak out.

Chemicals: Chemical substances, gases, mercury, etc., may change the color of cases, bracelets and straps. Mercury (for instance, from a broken thermometer) can cause particularly unsightly grey discoloration of gold plating.

Does magnetism affect timepieces?

Magnetism might affect analogue watches, which use a tiny electric motor to turn the hands. Powerful magnetism can affect the performance of this motor.

What does the water resistance rating of my watch mean?

0 ATM / No Marking - resistant to light water contact via handwashing and light rain only - do not submerge. Not suitable for bathing, swimming, or for use in wet environments. Residual water should be dried from the case immediately.

3 ATM - same resistance capacity as 0 ATM, but may be submerged briefly. Not suitable for bathing, swimming, or for use in wet environments.

5 ATM - may be submerged for short durations, in normal temperature fresh water only. Not suitable for bathing, swimming, watersports, or diving.

10 ATM - suitable for normal bathing and short duration / low depth swimming, in normal temperature fresh water only. Not suitable for watersports, extended periods of swimming, or diving. Not recommended for use in extreme conditions.

20 ATM - Feature Dependent

- Screw down crown with non-screw down / locking buttons (if equipped): suitable for bathing, swimming, and light watersports, in normal temperature fresh water only.

- Screw down crown with screw down / locking buttons (if equipped): suitable for all forms of water contact within indicated depth marking. Not recommended for use in extreme conditions or salt water.

- Screw down crown with no buttons present: suitable for all forms of water contact within indicated depth marking. Not suitable for deep sea diving.

Note: Manipulation of the crown or buttons while the watch is in contact with water will negate the rated water resistance as water penetration may occur.
